You can make a killer meal using just lasagna flavored hamburger helper. I made it the other night for my dat with myself and I loved it! The conversation wasn’t that good so it’s a good thing the food was!
I have a dessert one for you.
Chewy Chocolate-Caramel Bars
1c Quick-cooking oats, uncooked
1/2c brown sugar, packed
1/2c sugar
1c all-purpose flour
1t baking soda
3/4c butter, melted
14oz pkg. caramels, unwrapped
3T milk
12oz pkg milk chocolate chips
Combine oats, brown sugar, sugar, flour, baking soda and butter; press half of the mixture into a greased 9″X9″ baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. While baking, melt caramels with milk in a double boiler; stir until smooth. Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot crust; pour melted caramel on top. Spread remaining dry mixture over top; bake 15 more minutes. Cool; cut into squares.
Tip: I always get the caramels unwrapped first. And after you pour the caramel on you are supposed to spread the remaining oatmeal mixture, well it doesn’t spread easy so I drop some all over and it spreads when it bakes for 15 more minutes.
I just made some yummmmmmmmmmy lol.
INSIST of French. you CANNOT go wrong
Anyways here goes….
Caviar, Caviar Caviar (ultiamte WOW)
Don’t need too good quality. Beluga’s best, Oscietra’s cheaper. Try getting russian caviar.
Put it in nicely soft boiled egg (insist of using fresh farm eggs; white ones)
Carpaccio of Langoustine:
Langoustines, very finely sliced (they’re small lobsters, you can try substitutes)(otherwise, use ocean trout)
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (BEST you can get; the one that famous chefs use nowadays is the $ 30 dandaragan estate oliver oil)
FINELY chopped chives
Mix the chives and olive oil together and spread over the finely sliced fillet(raw mind you) on a LARGE plate. IF you’re using trout, then bash in arugula on top, with a good poached egg in the centre.
these are my recipes observed from restaurants but i’ve tried them on my own. For the main course you should use a good quality wagyu or kobe beef. As beef is not easy to wow unless you’re a pro chef, you sohuld use wagyua and kobe for its natural flavor. sauce is VERY essential. By brown stock bouillon cubes, simmer in water as instructed, reduce it until 50% is left, put in red wine and reduce till 30% is left. Place beef on top of finely whipped potatoes (insist on maris piper) on top of the sauce. Put aside some nicely grilled vegetables with the olive oil.
Desert: Warm chocolate cake with fudge center (very important!)sinful and pleasurable, DON’T forget strawberries
Insist on LINDT excellence OR Godiva chocoalte; best you can get. Joel Robuchon uses LINDT and i recall that the morton’s restaurant uses godiva. I don’t know the exact recipe, srry anyways
Hope this Helps!
BBQ some steak, make baked potatoes, a green salad and cheese cake for dessert. It’s easy and almost everyone likes it. The cheese cake can be made out of the mix you buy in the baking isle of the grocery store. Good luck!
Cornish Game Hens are totoally the way to go. They look like little chickens and are in almost any grocery store, cost about 2-3 each. All you have to do is pre-heat your oven to 350 put hens breast down in a baking dish, season with garlic salt and pepper on both sides. Bake for 30minutes and then turn hens over with breast up (fix the skin to lay right). Bake another 30-45 minutes. You can serve them with mashed potatoes (all guys love ‘em) and stove top (quick and easy). For the mashed potatoes (if you don’t know) cut off skins, cut into 1-2 inch pieces. Put in cold salted water on stove bring to boil and the reduce heat and cook on medium for about 10-15 minutes (depending on size of pieces) until they fall off a fork if you try to pick a piece out of the water with a fork (it’s called fork tender). Drain water and sit back on hot stove for 1 minute or less just to evaporate any extra water. Season with salt and pepper (more salt always then pepper, salt actually enhances the flavor of food while pepper covers it a little) and put about a half of stick of butter cut into sections (to aid in faster melting) and blend with hand mixer till most potatoes are mashed. Add a splash of milk and mix again if they are still too thich add more milk and mix. You can transfer this to another dish and top with shredded cheese and bake till the cheese is melted if you want. This really isn’t that hard and it will surely impress.
Grocery list:
2 cornish game hens (1 per person)
garlic salt (Lawry’s green top)
salt and pepper
potatoes
butter
milk
shredded mild cheddar
stove top (chicken)
Best wishes
